The last Solheim Cup held on European soil took place in Spain in 2023, while the upcoming edition set for the Netherlands in 2026.

In the wake of Europe's recent Ryder Cup triumph, the national golf association is calling on the government to underwrite its bid to organize the Solheim Cup in the country for the very first occasion.

This elite competition between the top female golfers of Europe and the United States has been held on two occasions in Scotland as well as once in Wales but never on English territory. An official proposal has been assembled to organize it at the Grove venue within Hertfordshire eight years from now.
